Last Minute Thanksgiving Dessert Ideas

Wow, Thanksgiving is in just a few days! Have you purchased everything you need or are you that last minute shopping gal? Well, here are some last minute Thanksgiving Dessert Ideas!

Last Minute Shopper

Early Friday morning, I picked up my turkey, that I pre-ordered online, through my local Whole Foods. While I was there I also picked up everything I need for Thanksgiving. There were a few items that were out of stock, but I will go back to grab those this week. I love prepping early, so I am not overwhelmed, doing everything at once! Even though it is just my family and I, I definitely want to relax on the big day and enjoy food. Not cook all day! There is still time to prep of course! Check out, Preparing for Thanksgiving to read on how I get ready for Thanksgiving!

Desserts Please!

We usually have specific desserts in mind for the holidays, but there are plenty of different fall, pumpkiny desserts you can make and you can honestly make anything you don’t often make!

Pies

Of course, pies make the list. Why not? I only eat pie 2-3 times a year. Pies are sold everywhere, and if you don’t have time to bake one, buy one! You can even make it your own, by adding whipped cream and nuts or even a chocolate ganache! Or make mini pies buy cutting store both pies with a cookie cutter and adding some whipped cream for an extra “homemade” look.

Most years I do buy pie for Thanksgiving since I make other desserts and cook everything else, that gives me a little break. Last year, I did attempt mini pecan pies. Not bad, but I still have to play with the recipe before making a post about it! However, making mini pies, is my favorite way to bake a pie. HERE is one of my mini pie recipes. Of course, it is fall and so why not substitute for apple or cherry filling or even make a pumpkin chocolate mousse pie!

Cake/Bread

Make a poke cake weeks in advance and freeze it! Thaw out the night before and you got a delicious dessert. My favorite poke cake, I make every fall is Easy Pumpkin Spice Poke Cake. It is full of flavor and definitely fills a crowd! I usually bake the cake in 2 pans and gift one and keep one for myself. Too much cake to make a full pan for my home.

Then of course you can make some sweet breads! These are super easy to serve and perfect for dessert or breakfast, to be honest, haha! Try Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Bread (Super Moist), Apple Cider Cinnamon Bread and Cucumber Pumpkin Spice Bread

Cookies

Cookies are easy and all kids love cookies. It is a great Thanksgiving dessert to serve, especially when you have picky eaters (yes, there are plenty of adults that are super picky!) I love making pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. I found this recipe on pinterest a few years ago and boy are they super moist but still taste just like a cookie! These cookies are just everything you need in your life! The recipe is super easy as well. You can find it HERE.

Now, if you still need to watch your diet for health reasons, try some healthier cookies for your Thanksgiving dessert.

What are some of your must have desserts for Thanksgiving?

Happy Thanksgiving!
