Father’s Day Ideas During Quarantine
Blog #78: No one would have anticipated we would still be in quarantine in June, in time for father’s day. Yes, many states have started to open up but we are still quarantined since we still have to wear masks outside. There are many ways to celebrate father’s day during quarantine. Here are some ideas for the gift, the meal and the celebration!
What to do outdoors?
Because it is June, the weather is starting to warm up and there are plenty of things to do where you can social distance. Beach days are one of my favorite things to do with my family. Fortunately beaches are open. The safest bet is to go to a beach where you have to make reservations. Sad to say but it is safer to keep social distancing. I have my beach day booked!
Plan for outdoor activities, such as a picnic or a trip to the zoo. Here in Massachusetts you also have to make reservations to the zoo. Phase 2 will come soon enough and more things will start to open. Outdoor dining is another idea. The elderly are the most vulnerable. Therefore you could order take out and take the food to a park for a picnic. Listen to nature and the birds. Smell the air and feel the wind, There are so many things we have taken for granted, that it is nice to reflect on those things.
Gift Ideas
Gifts can be tricky for some. It is beyond difficult to buy my husband gifts. But I listen throughout the year for things he wants and is interested in. I like to get him things that he will use and want of course. I stay away from buying him clothes! This year I bought him a Yeti water bottle. Whether you buy your husband, dad, uncle, brother or cousin a scratch ticket or a new basketball it will be appreciated! Even mailing out a card is nice. Who doesn’t like to get fun mail! I have done the wine subscription box delivery. The company sends you a variety of wines to try each month and what you can pair it with! You look forward to getting something every month!
Meal Ideas
As you may already know, I love to cook. What better way than cooking a nice meal for your husband. You can make a nice meal to deliver to a loved. You can also make goods or make a nice fruit basket! Don’t feel like cooking? Do take out and get something fancy or stick to some burgers or pizza. Whatever floats your boat!
Some Easy but Fancy looking meals you can make:
- Shrimp Wrapped in Bacon Watermelon Salad;
- Shrimp and Avocado Watermelon Salad;
- Shrimp and Watermelon Kale Salad;
- Garlic & Herb Salmon Dinner;
- Homemade Chicken Kabob Subs; (fancy if they are homemade LOL)
- Turkey Nachos; and
- Cucumber Salad with a Rotisserie Chicken!
In the End
It is about the thought that counts. This year is different. Your loved ones will understand it is very difficult to get together during our new quarantine life. A phone call, a card in the mail or even a nice email or text message works just fine!
Happy Father’s Day!
