I definitely used to be materialistic growing up. But as I got older I learned to be a minimalist. Thanks to my husband, of course. Quality over quantity with clothes. And I have to say my closet has kept nicely with clothes that has lasted with classic outfits. As adults it is easy to become a minimalist. Is it easy to be a minimalist with children? Isn't it fun to make Christmas crafts!? It's even more fun crafting with kids! Most kid crafts don't last long as most are made with construction paper and may only last for one holiday season. What about making some crafts that you can use every holiday season and on a budget? How about making DIY easy Christmas window clings? All you need is fabric paints, parchment paper and templates! I bought some fabric paint at Michaels for a reasonable price that came out to about $9 using the coupons they offer weekly. Parchment paper, costs about $3-4 dollars and templates you can print or use other pictures you may have in coloring books or magazines, you may have lying around. Even kids picture books! Of course if you draw well or you like to create your own designs you don't need templates.
Christmas is right around the corner and this year I am way behind on my shopping! With the pandemic, I haven't been the most enthusiastic to do any Christmas shopping. By December 1st I would have had everything done by now. My list is definitely smaller this year and I definitely like to budget my Christmas list. Can you come up with 5 ideas? I know! It is super hard to come up with ideas for every person on your list! How about 25 Christmas Gift Ideas on a Budget, under $20?! This list will definitely help you 😊
Who doesn't enjoy getting baked goods for the holidays? Everyone enjoys edible gifts. This year I plan on making MORE baked goods than usual. Instead of purchasing gifts for the adults on my list, I will be gifting sweets.. We, as adults, can purchase whatever we like and we may already have everything we want at this point. Here are the top Christmas food gift ideas to help you decide what to make for the special folks in your life!
Receiving gift baskets are great, if it's made right. I have seen gift basket's that are not worth making. The smell of soap that will give your skin a rash. Then there is the scent that is too strong. I think over the years gift baskets have definitely improved, in store. However, there are many pre-made gift baskets sold for double the price of what you could make yourself for way less! Would you like to know how to make a wine gift basket?
Every Christmas I make Chocolate Peppermint Bark. I should say every December, as I make it a few times for my home and to gift! I enjoy making goodies that don't require much work since I am usually making large batches. My favorite Christmas goodie is BARK! It is super easy and no cooking required! You really can't mess this up unless you scare the chocolate during the double boiler method with water. If that's the case, melt your chocolate in the microwave.
Kids make all sorts of things at school during the month of December. Over the years it becomes a collection of things. The first year, as a parent, you are excited and display these crafts on your Christmas tree. But year after year your tree becomes too cluttered and way to many crafts that don't go with your own Christmas decorations. Why not make a Kids Christmas Tree Craft? Also known as a memory tree.
I love Christmas! All the things you have to do just to prepare for the holiday. You need to purchase gifts, wrap, decorate your home, prepare a meal. Wow, a lot! To get ready and not overwhelm myself. I make a list of everyone I need to buy gifts for. I make a list for all the kids, the adults, another for teachers, bus drivers and coaches and then a separate list for my kids and husband. I honestly make this list in October, just to have since we always have new babies in the family. I don't want to forget anyone!
For dinner I made a buttery garlic shrimp pasta. I have to admit I have been wanting pasta lately and my little one really enjoys it. It's also an excuse to make it more often. First of all it's easy, quick and very filling. Pasta is definitely a dish for those busy school nights. On top of that, the shrimp cooks in just about the same time your pasta cooks! I made this dish with the thought I could make it for Christmas Eve or Christmas. Pasta and seafood are dishes I lean towards for the holidays. Maybe because they are comforting dishes. Garlic Shrimp Pasta is easy but can be made as fancy as you want it!
