Baby Food Ideas for your 7 Month Old and Beyond!

My daughter just turned 8 months. She is also eating all sorts of foods! By the time she turned 7 months she was eating a large variety of foods. Here are some baby food ideas for your 7 month old baby and beyond!

I introduced food at 6 months. By the 7th month it gets easier. More options since you may already have ruled out allergen foods, such as peanut butter and eggs. You can also start mixing so many different foods!

Here are some of my favorites:

  • Black beans and sweet potato purée
  • Vanilla yogurt and fruit purée.
  • Yogurt blueberry dots (a great snack)
  • Roasted butternut squash
  • Butternut squash and pears
  • Mashed avocado and banana
  • Sweet potatoes and squash
  • Yucca and avocado mash
  • Mashed potatoes and gravy
  • Scrambled eggs and cheese, mashed with potatoes or sweet potatoes
  • Scrambled eggs with cheese and avocados, mashed
  • Oatmeal or cream of wheat with applesauce, blueberries and cinnamon
  • Puréed pasta with sauce and cheese
  • Mac n cheese, mashed
  • Small pieces of cheese
  • Rice and beans with squash or sweet potatoes and corn
  • Pesto ravioli cut into very small pieces
  • Peanut butter and jam sandwiches cut into small bits
  • Roasted broccoli
  • Grilled cheese cut into small bits
  • Cheese quesadilla cut into small bits

Don’t be afraid to give your baby new foods. Feed her what you would normally eat. Just make sure to puree, mash or cut up the food into very small pieces. I also like to make chicken vegetable soup. I puree the chicken and vegetables and add some squash or rice and it’s the perfect blend. Rice is small enough to give without cutting it up.

Add Spices

Don’t be afraid to add spices. Herbs and warm spices give lots of flavors to our everyday foods. Cream of wheat is a favorite for my youngest son and I. But plain cream of wheat has no flavor. Without cinnamon and brown sugar I wouldn’t enjoy it.

Smoothies

I love smoothies and it’s a great option for your little one. You can mix in some greens and get all the extra nutrients! I purchased the Simple Modern reusable baby pouches. These are great for purées and smoothies! My daughter loves the food pouches since she prefers to feed herself. She does pretty good. And since I make most of her foods, this is a great option!

Baby Food Ideas

The first introduction to baby food can be overwhelming. Some start feeding their baby as early as 4 months and some wait until baby shows interest in food. Some examples are, grabbing your food and smacking lips when she sees food around her LOL

The beginning is a bit hard because. we are afraid that baby will choke or may be allergic. Once you are past that stage feed your baby a variety of healthy foods you make at home! It saves you money and eating home is better than buying baby food.

Happy Feeding!
