5 Smoothies to Boost Your Morning

Blog #87: Here are 5 smoothies to boost your morning. I used to go overboard with adding tons of ingredients to my morning smoothies. Fruit smoothies is what I prefer in my smoothies instead of the vegetables. I love vegetables and eat plenty with my meals throughout the day. Therefore, I don’t feel the need to always add greens to my smoothies. If I run out of greens at the end of the week, I don’t stress it. As long as I have bananas and almond milk I can make my favorite smoothies! Chia seeds is another ingredient for smoothies. However, everytime I add chia seeds to my smoothies they sink to the bottom. Not sure what is happening!

Sometimes I buy frozen fruit since fruit doesn’t last long in my home! One of my new favorites is Wyman’s Berry and Kale. This blend has 2x the antioxidants! It has a blend of cherries, strawberries blueberries and kale! No need to pit cherries for your smoothie!

My Go To Smoothies

  1. Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
  2. Blueberry Banana Smoothie
  3. Nectarine Smoothie
  4. Berry Smoothie
  5. Strawberry Banana Smoothie

My Smoothies Always Have…

A must for each of my smoothies is to make each one with a ripe banana and almond milk. If the banana is not ripe it will not not be sweet. I see many recipes that have honey in their smoothies. However, I have tried this and did not enjoy it much. I can eat honey by the spoonful and add it to many of my recipes. Although, in a smoothie I do not feel there is a need to sweeten your smoothie as fruits are already naturally sweet! That is why you should use ripen fruit when making smoothies.

Cinnamon is a must in most of my smoothies. And there are many benefits to incorporating cinnamon to your meals. To name a few benefits, cinnamon keeps your gums health and fights inflammation.

If you are allergic to nuts, feel free to substitute the almond milk for water or fresh pineapples.

Just for Breakfast?

You can have smoothies anytime of the day! For breakfast, as a snack, after a workout or for a light dinner! If I do have a smoothie for breakfast, I always have it with food. As I do not get full off of just liquids! I know some people do.

Once my youngest son, started solids, I would make him smoothies using breastmilk. Once I started introducing him to nuts, I started giving him some of my smoothies, made with almond milk. He loves them! My boys favorite smoothies are the peanut butter banana and strawberry banana smoothies!
