The Healthy Banana Almond Joy (5 Ingredients)
There are many nights where my brain doesn’t shut down. On one of those nights I came up with the idea of making a healthy version of an almond joy. The concept was there. After I made them, they still had a strong banana flavor. They then became The Healthy Banana Almond Joy (5 ingredients). I love making sweets with few ingredients as possible. Easy to figure out the ratio of ingredients and healthier choices to pick from.
The Main Ingredients
In my mind I was thinking, I can make this taste like the actual piece of chocolate but not overly sweet. The inside of an almond joy is semi wet and not completely dry. Therefore I used less dry ingredients for this dessert. In a way it is a different version of my Healthy Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies/5 Ingredients. Ripe bananas and quick oats are the main ingredients. This is my go to, to making healthier version of cookies. The five ingredients for this healthy banana almond joy, are: quick oats, ripe bananas, raw almonds, unsweetened coconut flakes and semi sweet chocolate chips.
My plan was to cover the oats and banana mixture in chocolate but then quickly realized I did not have enough to cover each one. However, drizzling the chocolate over the almond joy turned out perfect!
Banana Taste
When I make Healthy Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies/5 Ingredients, you don’t get that strong banana flavor. Which is why I did not think this would have been an issue with this recipe. What gave it a stronger banana taste was having a wetter consistency. I went with a wetter consistency for this recipe to get a similar texture to the actual almond joy. In the end, obviously, this recipe was not exactly like the real deal, but came out very good! I will definitely make this again!
