How Do You Feel During Your Second Trimester?

How do you feel during your second trimester? Once you experience first trimester symptoms, you may think it’ll never pass.  However, once you get to your second trimester, you will be relieved to know morning sickness does go away, for the majority of us. About 70% of pregnant women get morning sickness. The second trimester are from 13 weeks to 26 weeks.

Pros During your Second Trimester

Some pros during your second trimester are, for one, is that you feel so much better!

  • No morning sickness
  • You can finally eat and keep food down
  • You look pregnant and not that weird bloating stage
  • Your maternity clothes fit perfectly and are fun to wear!
  • Ultrasound and gender, if you would like to know the gender
  • More energy, which means more cleaning, organizing and planning for baby!
  • Your baby kicks, all the time!

Negatives During your Second Trimester

Of course, there are always negatives during each trimester.  Some for me are:

  • It gets harder to sleep with a growing belly.  It just feels heavy.
  • It’s hard to pick stuff up from the floor
  • Ligament pain from growing belly
  • Tired when doing dishes for a long time – leaning over the sink because belly is in the way.

Half Way There:

Some people enjoy every stage of pregnancy.  I however, don’t enjoy it very much.  It take a toll on our bodies and we become limited to what we can do, safely.  If I had to pick a favorite trimester, it would definitely be this one.  It means I am half way to giving birth and feel the greatest during these few months.  Once you hit your third trimester, it gets even more real! I like to say, you go downhill from there.  Your belly is just so heavy and everything is super uncomfortable!

Of course, enjoy every state of pregnancy, as much as you can.  It is fun watching your belly grow and feeling baby kick.  If you have a an app like Baby Center or Ovia, you can see what size your baby is every week, such as a carrot or an apple.  It’s pretty cool!

Enjoy your growing belly!
