Easter Basket Ideas (Buy What They Need)

Easter comes around, meaning Spring is here. The pastel colors, the flowers and spring cleaning.  I love it!  When it comes to making easter baskets I try to buy things my kids need and will use.  Of course, I will still buy something they want.  I also try not to go overboard with candy, as my children also get 2 additional baskets from family members. Here are some easter basket ideas (buy what they need).

Easter Basket Tips

A good tip is to save the easter baskets, grass and eggs for next year, instead of buying new ones every year.  I tend to get a few extra ones every year from easter baskets gifted to my kids. I then reuse those baskets when also making baskets for their cousins.

Purchase things your kids will need. As cute as easter themed gifts are, I try not to buy them.  It honestly goes to waste. This is the time when my kids need new shoes, sandals and clothes for the summer. Some of those things go in their easter baskets. As they get older, it becomes less toys and more needs.

Here Are Some Easter Basket Ideas:

I make 2 baskets for my boys and 2 baskets for their cousins.  here are some examples for boy and girl gifts.

  • headphones
  • basketball posters
  • dolls
  • hair accessories
  • PJs
  • Books
  • Stickers and activity books
  • Swim shorts
  • Pool accessories
  • Toothbrush
  • PEZ
  • Gum
  • Candy
  • Chocolate

Gift Ideas for Little Ones

  • Shape sorter
  • Puzzles
  • Toddler Snacks
  • Teethers
  • Toothbrush
  • PJs
  • Sandals
  • Shoes
  • Bath toys
  • Onesies
  • Water bottle/sippy cup

How To Put Together

As I mentioned above, I save the baskets I get and reuse them every year. Sometimes, I don’t need to use the baskets. For example, this year, I got my youngest a mini backpack, that will be his diaper bag, when we travel this year. In the backpack, I will store everything I got him for easter. The backpack will be his easter basket.

I don’t put as much chocolate and candy in the baskets as I do an Easter egg hunt for my boys the morning of.  As you can see these are things they will enjoy and not just wants but things they will use!

I hope I have given you a few ideas on buying things that won’t go to waste in your kids easter baskets!

Happy Easter!
