Homemade Ice Cream (Just 2 Ingredients)
Homemade ice cream…hmm sounds good but too hard to make. Do you need extra equipment? Nope! Homemade ice cream can be made with just 2 ingredients! The best part is you can add any flavors to make your favorite frozen treat! The secret ingredients are milk and bananas!
Bananas and Milk
I have made homemade ice cream a variety of ways. I find this frozen treat is creamer when milk is added to it. You can use any kind of milk. I use 1% low fat milk but feel free to use whole milk, almond milk or soy! Whatever you drink! Of course, you can totally opt out of adding milk and just blend the bananas. However, you will be blending a few minutes longer. In total, it should take about 5 minutes to get a smooth consistency.
What You Need
All you need for equipment is a blender or food processor. I use a blender and therefore, have to turn off the blender and push some of the frozen bananas down to completely blend. But very quickly, you will see how it becomes smooth.
Ingredients
In terms of ingredients, all you need to start is VERY ripe bananas (frozen, of course) and your choice of milk. This ice cream definitely has a hint of banana flavor. After all it is made out of bananas! To change the flavor, add a splash of vanilla extract.
Other flavors, I’ve tried, is to add a bit of cocoa powder and blend for chocolate flavor! Top with chocolate chips! Add frozen berries and blend for a nice berry sorbet! Adding strawberries gives it a strawberry banana smoothie taste! One flavor I haven’t tried is peanut butter banana. Next time I make it, I will add a tablespoon of peanut butter and blend. It sounds so good just thinking about it!
Don’t Throw Out Bananas
In my household, we eat TONS of bananas. Whether for breakfast, a snack or to make healthy desserts! It has been quite busy lately and I haven’t made too many desserts. Therefore, I freeze my overripe bananas, to use for later.
Freeze your sliced bananas for about 2 hours, if you plan on making ice cream the same day. You can always freeze them instead of tossing them. Remember there are so many things to make with bananas! Especially for bakers out there. When people think of ripe bananas, they think of banana bread or substituting the egg for a ripe banana to add in a cake or to make brownies.

You can’t go wrong with frozen fruit + milk/yoghurt ice cream! Well, as long as your blender can handle crushing frozen fruit, haha (I’ve had some sad stories there)
