Pizza Ideas for National Pizza Day!
National Pizza Day is on February 9th. Should we be surprised? There is a national day for all foods and drinks at this point. It’s a great excuse to buy or make pizza. Although pizza is one of those fast foods that aren’t really fast food to most of us. Here are some ideas to make at home for National Pizza Day.
Some Ideas to Try
Make Bagels
I have never liked pizza bites but was inspired to make pizza bagels. Use your favorite pasta sauce and cheese. Broil them in your oven for a few minutes and you’ve got yourself a yummy pizza on a bagel! My son loves this. It’s nice to have for breakfast or even a meal, if you have the whole bagel. Super easy to make!
Muffin Rolls
Use your favorite dough or Pillsbury dough to make pizza muffins. Easy to take on the go and pack for school lunches. It’s easier to make than it sounds. These also make great appetizers for Super Bowl Sunday or even a kids birthday party!
Use Naan as your base
Naan pizzas are probably my favorite homemade pizzas. I love the shape and texture of the naans! Plain cheese with some oregano or add some sauce. One of my favorite toppings are vegetables. Try mushrooms, tomatoes, broccoli; anything goes. If your a meat lover try BBQ chicken. A drizzle of BBQ sauce and fresh herbs adds some nice flavors.
Some other combinations I have tried and love is toasted naan with fresh garlic, fresh shredded parmesan and some spinach. Add some fresh squeezed lemon and it’s outs of this world! And don’t forget a nice balsamic glaze. I love this with sauteed mushrooms. It’s probably my favorite way to have naan.
Make it Healthy
You can still indulge and eat healthy. Make a healthy pizza with eggplant! My kids love this and it’s easy to make!
