My posts this week will be all about healthiness. Since the holidays are over, it is hard to stop those sweet cravings. I love making protein balls since they are filling and healthy. You never have to OVER indulge with these. My favorite are the Protein Granola Balls Dipped in Chocolate. To make it healthier, [...]
The holidays are filled with sweets. There is always an excuse to eat something unhealthy because it's the holiday season. As I write this I feel so full of eating unhealthy today. Now I have a slight headache! Tomorrow I will go back to healthy eating. With that being said, I want to share a healthy holiday snack I have been making, Bruschetta on a rice cake. It's really not ONLY a holiday snack but I am calling it that because it has all the Christmas colors. So why not call it a holiday snack? I love bruschetta. It's very fresh, light and serving it on a rice cake is even lighter than on bread. At less than 50 calories per rice cake, it can be topped with anything from peanut butter and bananas to guacamole without worrying about the extra calories.
Cucumber season is from May through August. Just in time for the fall, I made a cucumber pumpkin spice bread. If you garden you may have an abundance of cucumbers. I have relatives who grow cucumbers and I have not been letting them go to waste. In the summer they taste amazing with a pinch of salt. A cucumber is made up of 96% water, which makes it super hydrating on those summer hot days. Now that fall is upon us and colder mornings you make be getting sick of cucumbers or just have no idea what to do what all those cucumbers! I have a couple of ideas to help you use them up!
One of favorite marinated olives is made with garlic, parmesan and lemon juice. If you've never tried marinated olives, you must! Olives are so delicious. I can easily eat them by the jar. In fact, I have on many occasions. During my first pregnancy that was one of cravings. I love olives!! Do you like marinated olives? Most of us don't think to make marinated olives because we can easily purchase them in store and secondly, we don't think to marinate them unless there is an occasion for celebration. I do admit, I fall into these two categories.
Here are 5 smoothies to boost your morning. I used to go overboard with adding tons of ingredients to my morning smoothies. I prefer the fruit smoothies instead of the vegetables. I love vegetables and eat plenty with my meals throughout the day. Therefore, I don't feel the need to always add greens to my smoothies.
