What Should You Put in Those Easter Baskets?

Easter decor, is so much fun to make! This holiday is so cute with all the pastel colors and all the Easter themed items in store. So many options, that you wonder what to buy for the Easter baskets! What should you put in those easter baskets?!

Easter Basket Ideas

A few years ago I posted Easter Basket Ideas (Buy What They Need). I still stick to this! Really, buy your kids things they need instead of the dollar spot easter toys that will head to the trash the next day. Spring is here and before we know it, it is summer! The Easter theme baskets for my kids always revolve around spring and summer things they may need. Of course, they will still get things they want, as well. For example, my older 2 kids need new crocs. To add a fun addition to the sandals, add some croc charms. There are so many options. My oldest loves the NBA charms.

Basket Ideas for older Children

My oldest 2 sons are 11 years old. Therefore, they don’t need the kiddie toys but rather pre-teen things. Here are some ideas for pre-teens:

  • Croc sandals with charms
  • A book
  • Candy and Chocolate (their favorites)
  • T-shirt and Shorts for the summer
  • A small gift card or cash to buy snacks, when out with friends at the park!
  • Posters
  • PJs
  • Raincoat
  • Sport gear
  • Art supplies
  • Video game

Ideas for Babies and Toddlers

This year my 2.5 year old will have so much fun for Easter. He loves animals! We plan to do an Easter egg hunt in our backyard. It’ll be fun, while his older brothers help him find the eggs! I am hoping for good weather! Fingers crossed! Some Ideas for little ones are:

  • Board books! Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What do you Hear? is on my list. My son is obsessed with the Eric Carle Bear books!
  • Mr. Potato Head, puzzles, shapes
  • Stuffed animals, miniature toys that are safe for little ones, of course
  • Clothes! – PJs, spring and summer clothes
  • Shoes, such as slippers or sandals
  • Toothbrush
  • Art supplies
  • Fruit pouches
  • Plain chocolates; avoid hard and chewy candy; puffs are good for babies

Stuffing Eggs

Some of the gifts could be used to stuff the eggs. For example, cash could be put in the eggs and small toys! Prepare ahead before buying a bunch of plastic eggs. There are tons of sizes but you want the right ones!

How Much Candy to Buy

Not a lot! I buy one bag of mixed chocolates to add to the Easter eggs and then some candies already packaged in Easter eggs for the baskets. In addition, I always make Chocolate Stuffed Easter Cups.

Practical Gifts

If gifting to other children in the family or for friends, I do the same. Practical gifts are the best. Bubbles, books, journals with a cute pen, hats for the summer, accessories. Such as hair clips and nail polish.

Candy

Candy is always the thought when it comes to Easter but there are many gift ideas that don’t involve a basket full of sweets!

Happy Easter!
