Summer Toddler Schedule (Keep A Routine)

It’s now the end of July and you are running out of things to do with your toddler. Or so you think! Just like you keep your older children busy, with summer camps and fun activities with family and friends, there is also lots to do with your toddler. Keep a routine, no matter what time of the year. A summer toddler schedule is probably a lot more fun than the rest of the seasons!

Summer Schedule

Your toddler is getting older and busier! Whether you are a working parent or stay at home, there are many things to do with your toddler. ESPECIALLY in the summer! Toddlers are a lot easier to entertain than older children. Because toddlers are new to exploring and seeing new places, even the little things excite them! Keeping a routine year round is important for toddlers, just as it is important for older children, teens and adults! Of course, things will change over time with different activities, events and just different interests, that come along with growth.

Keeping Routine

Keeping a toddler schedule is super important. Try to schedule all activities when your toddler is not going down for a nap or bedtime! This will only make him fussy and ruin the schedule for the rest of the day. Meaning you can’t accomplish much, for the rest of the day.

This is just a sample schedule. My son is on a schedule like this. He has a few activities each week that we attend. My son does swim, and gymnastics but there are also plenty of free things to do as well! Check your local library for story time at the library. My library holds different story times for different age groups. It is nice to attend in the summer, since they are held outdoors. Bring a blanket and some snacks and head to story time! The librarians really make it interactive with songs, large size images, large books and bubbles at the end of class.

There are also different programs geared to small children that are free. There is a group in my area that serves a bunch of surrounding towns and they hold story time, as well. Each day of the week it is held in a different town at a park. Each class is geared to a certain age group. There is music class, learning the ABCs, story time, nature walks and even pool time!

Finding Things To Do At Home

Some days you want to do something but not go out and that is totally fine. Grab some chalk and draw with your toddler. Play ball or just let your toddler explore the yard or the neighborhood. My son loves when we take walks, while he lays in the stroller or sit in his wagon. He is never really done with the “walk” and always asks to do more walking. An early morning stroll is also super relaxing. No cars on the road yet, it’s not super hot yet and you can hear the birds and see the bunnies moving about. My husband does this on the weekends with our kids. It’s nice and quiet at home for about 30 minutes. Some me time!

I hope I have given you some ideas to do with your toddler this summer!
